About This Show
Jerry Hannan solo at the Inn at Occidental, two sets on a Sunday evening in Sonoma County. Every other recording in this archive comes from a run of Marin County clubs between 1998 and 2001; this one was taped twenty-five years later.
Five songs here appear nowhere else in the archive: “Society,” “Girl Shoes,” “Never Be the Same,” “Brother Know,” and “Love is All.” “Society” is the song Eddie Vedder recorded for the Into the Wild soundtrack, and this is its first appearance on any tape in the collection.
“Never Know Love” turns up only once elsewhere in the archive, in Sean Hannan’s 19 Broadway set of January 24, 2000, which makes this the only recording here of Jerry playing it. “Perfect Autumn Day” was taped four times across 1999 — once as the finished song and three times as an early version — and then not again until this night. The night closes on “The Parting Glass.”
A note on the sound: a water fountain runs through the entire set, and a gravel path beside the microphone catches every passing footstep — this one was a challenge to work with. Fade-outs will be applied at some point in the future.
